American maple drying rack, 100% cotton towel with olive oil and graphite body print cut out, hand carved bass wood clothes pins with copper covered steel wire, spring
H87 x W40 x D20 inches
"Little by Little” is a free standing sculpture. It takes on a Martyr/Victim dilemma and how to move beyond their confines. On an extra tall drying rack hangs a towel with a cut out body print. The towel is held by wood clothes pins resembling pinching fingers. The figure cut in the towel is based on the bodies imprint, resembling a cross between flailed body and cubist abstraction. The pinching finger clothes pins can be either my super self holding me up or others being there hold me up. The sculpture addresses the challenge of shredding obsolete survival mechanisms. Though distress will be there as layers in my life, Little by Little, they will morph into a part of what makes me me
